I’m looking for a super-creative thought partner to help my Fortune 500 company develop a game. Our game will be a first step in helping consumers to understand and care about sustainable materials and products. The long-term vision is to share this game with other companies, convince consumers to demand more sustainable products and help reduce the environmental impact of companies around world.

But I’m not a game developer. I’m just a huge fan and student of gamification. So I’m looking for someone who’s got a track record of developing highly addictive, kickass, super fun games that also educate players. This is something we will pay money for. :)

Who’s the industry leader in this? Who are the up and coming stars? Treats for helpful responses. Thanks!

Also, since it occurs to me that many on here may be on this shortlist, shameless self promotion is encouraged – assuming you fit the description in the second paragraph.

If you need ideas. I am happy to help. I would be happy to help design such a game. But you will need programmers/programming team.

The other thing is need to know more about your company and what sustainable materials and product areas you want to focus on.

I have been stumped so far in regards to designing games as it seems the greater percentage of programmers prefer to design their own games. There are an incredible amount of very average games out there and an even greater number of poor game ideas yet developed.

Any tech geek can make a game. It takes someone with good ideas working with a great team to create something that stands out. I play a lot of games and I have to say this, there are very few that I play for any great length of time. The question is why do most games hold people attention for such a short time? Well its simple most games are missing some vital components, most programmers and even designers are too narrow visioned to realize it.

I would like to have the opportunity to research the game/games you are wanting to produce and come up with not just a super-creative design but rather a super-successful one.

I am happy to hand my work onto a Game Developer or for us to put together a team and Develop the game ourselves. There are advantages both ways. Of course putting together our own team requires talent hunting. I don’t mind helping out with that.

Also of importance is budget and time frame. I would like to have a look into how to get best bang for your buck.

I don’t have a track record. But if you let me get on with the research and concept design you will quickly see my value.

I think before you start talking to developers you need to figure out what your budget will be for this project. That’s going to help determine which developers you’ll want to speak with.

If you have a few thousand dollars to work with there are indie developers who can help you. If you have a few million to work with, then some of the bigger guys like Sony or Blizzard are probably who you want.

Without knowing the specifics of the type of game you’re wanting to develop it’s really hard to give you any additional information.

Eric- Games for Change (gamesforchange.org) often connects clients looking to create games with a mission to developers. I do second the comment on knowing your budget.

The game company I work for, Schell Games (http://www.schellgames.com), has done work along these lines (ie, games with an educational purpose to the fun). If you have some official RFP document, I would be happy to pass it along.

Another company whose work I recommend is Filament Games (http://www.filamentgames.com/). I don’t know anyone there personally- but they have done a lot of good educational stuff.

Thanks for all of the replies – I’ve connected with a few of the leads provided and we’ve secured a vendor to work with us.
