    Ideas seem to be a dime a dozen. Maybe you even know how to program or use an easier game development environment. But what about getting the artwork, sprites, sound effect, music and so forth out of your head an into the game?

    I know this is the part where my shoulders slump and I get a defeated look on my face.

    How are you doing this?
    * Making assets yourself?
    * Having a friend do it?
    * Buying content packs?
    * Checking for creative commons / public domain content on sites like deviantART, OpenGameArt, etc.?
    * Something else?

    Loving the discussions here at Gameful!

    I’m in Fargo, and a lot of people are big into creative commons here… almost no games have a production house build all the assets up front, and checking out lesser-known creative commons projects is inspirational (at least it is for me…)

    A friend of mine has the following creative commons distro, all of which you can hear for free (he goes by OK Fox, and designed the site, as well):

    It seems like people just have to get a basic idea and be open to new ideas… most of the creative commons music can be had for free, so long as you ask permission… sometimes it’s just stumbling into the right people :)

    Very cool. I had always assumed that sprites, graphics, and music were all created by the game developers and coders. This is encouraging for someone who cannot animate!
