My name is Christopher and I am reaching the Quarter-Centurion mark. Woo Twenty-five.

Undoubtedly I have spent quite a many year delving into the backstage of Game Design and Development as well as other fields like Emergent Behavior, Basic Game Theory, Chaos, Philosophy, Theology, Biology, and anything else I can get my hands on to improve my ability to create the best possible games with a powerful brain muscle. The Christopher says, Ka-Pow!

It is strange to be able to find games in everything but children do just that all of the time.

“Don’t tread on the lava… the floor is lava!!”

“I can only step on the black squares.”

In the realm of Mythic-centric development where it seems to children that the sun follows them it is only reasonable that boundaries are self created and followed. Otherwise it would be a cops and robber-less existence and quite trite.

    Quite Trite indeed.

I’m designing my first game and supposedly it is going to be released for free on my birthday…. March 16th.

My game design is also directly connected to the Ecological Aspects of civility as optional purchases will also fuel other Diversions of mine in alternative energy sectors as well as toppling major world issues.

    Hunger, Poverty, Abuses, Consumption, Waste.

By my nature I am a writer, gamer, and teacher and fitting the role of an Entrepreneur is a tight fit that I am settling into at the cost of spending actual time developing my game. Egad!

I don’t have a team and I have been sinking all of my spare time, thoughts, and energy into this little project of mine.

My major concern right now is even discussing the sensitive details of my project as I have been far too trusting in the past and was severely burned.

How do I resolve the issue of trust and confidence while maintaining and ensuring that my property is my property?

I’ve gone over so much data relating to Trademarks, Patents, Copyrights, and Licensing but even getting the funding to settle legal issues proves to be a catch-22 as I would have to explain in detail what I am doing, how I am going to do it, and how it would benefit potential investors.

I guess what I am asking is how can all of this be funded without blowing my cover? How has it been done in the past?

I cannot get a straight answer from anyone.

    Anywho,

I love this website, the design, and the premise. The energy is promising and it seems to be picking up rapidly.

Feel free to respond or message me for I tend to lurk.

    Endearingly,

    Christopher M Kelm

    Hi Christopher,

I think at some point, regardless of how careful you want to be not to divulge ‘too’ much, you’re going to have to ‘blow your cover’ if you want a shot at making your game.

Many people with a track record in the industry will tell you that no one ever steals ideas; that generally you have to pummel people repeatedly over the head with your ‘idea bat’ before they’ll even listen to you. That everyone already has their own pet project they’re trying to get the company they work for to develop.

You can do certain things to try and prevent your information from leaking out, such as having the people you discuss your game with sign a Non Disclosure Agreement (NDA). That may help eliminate some of your concerns, but should the information get ‘leaked’ somehow, you’d have to prove who leaked it, etc., and that could prove very expensive as well. I know I have read where others have given a notarized copy of their design to their attorney in a sealed envelope.

I think ultimately though, you’re going to need to trust the people you’re discussing your idea/design with. I believe unless you’ve already proven yourself with other titles, the chances of someone funding your project ‘sight unseen’, is rather slim. Once you have a team together and started development; funding options are more likely to open up for you.
